César Rodríguez Sánchez
César Rodríguez’s research activities have focused on two lines. The first one deals with a pollution that has not received much attention despite its deleterious impact on the environment and its undesirable effects on animal and human health. Namely, the massive release of antibiotics due to their use, abuse, and misuse in farming activities. As a complement to this, I have also analyzed the resistance to antimicrobial agents in some bacterial pathogens, including different genera of anaerobic bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The second line of research that I follow arises as a result of my experience in culture independent methods for the analysis of complex microbial communities. It exploits new generation sequencing and bioinformatics to understand the epidemiology, evolution, pathogenesis and resistance to antibiotics of Clostridium difficile.
