    Jean-Baptiste Ramond

    Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile

Jean-Baptiste Ramond received his PhD degree in microbiology/microbial ecology from the Université de Rouen (France). After 10 years in South Africa, as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Microbial Biotechnology and Metagenomics (University of the Western Cape) and Research Fellow at the Centre for Microbial Ecology and Genomics (University of Pretoria), he has recently been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Using a suit of ‘omics’ technologies, his research is aiming at better understanding the adaptation of microbial communities to extreme environmental conditions and climate change; with a particular focus on hot deserts.
