Sandra Victoria Flechas

Sandra V. Flechas is a biologist from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (2001). She received her master’s and doctorate degree from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia in 2005 and 2016, respectively. She was a postdoctoral researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute in Bogotá until January 2019. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Biological Sciences at the Universidad de los Andes. Her research interests focus on understanding the effect of infectious diseases, especially chytridiomycosis, on amphibian populations in the tropics and on the pathogen-host-microbiota interactions using amphibians as a study model. The main objective of her research is to generate accurate information that can be used for the conservation of this group of vertebrates, one of the most threatened now. She has published more than 20 articles related to these topics, and is very interested in science communication.
