Professor Ximena Besoain has been working for more than 30 years in the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV) and completed his doctor degree 11 years ago in the Politecnic University of Valencia, Spain. She starts teaching in the School of Agronomy of PUCV since 1987, being also since then director of the Plant Pathology Lab. She has been responsible for more than 50 projects, some from important funds in Chile, national grants and also from the Industry. Her main investigation line is associated with diagnosis of pathogens associated to fruit crops and vegetables and integrated disease management with special emphasis in fungi, oomycete and citrus viral diseases. She has published more than 35 papers in reputed journals and have two requested patents, the first one obtained in 2011.
